Over £30,000 raised during our Champions for Children campaign!

Our Champions for Children appeal has come to an end. This year  we have raised just under £33,000 with Gift Aid and match funding!

Whilst a little shy of our target of £36,000 this will still go a long way towards supporting young musicians in Lewisham via our Furthering Talent programme, enabling each child to receive tailored musical support including free weekly instrumental lessons, so they can keep making music.

We’re so grateful to all our generous supporters for their donations. A heartfelt thank you from all of us at Awards for Young Musicians and Lewisham Music. Many thanks too to our match funder The Childhood Trust.

Furthering Talent

Furthering Talent helps musicians from the earliest stage in their musical journey. The programme is specifically designed to help young people from low income families sustain their musical learning after initial state-funded whole-class lessons end, so they can keep on progressing and playing music well into their teens and beyond.

Each young person will benefit from:

  • 2 years of paid instrumental music lessons
  • An Individual Learning Plan
  • An annual bursary of £150 to reach their self-set musical goals
  • Termly ‘Get Togethers’ to broaden their musical experiences
