Last Night of the Proms 2018

AYM Awardees were recently invited by our good friends at the BBC Symphony Orchestra to come to the Royal Albert Hall to watch the dress rehearsal for the 2018 Last Night of the Proms, featuring, among many others, our patron Jess Gillam.

Elijah (age 13)

“As a saxophonist myself I gained a lot of tips on how to improve my playing. Jess made every note exciting!”

Daniel (age 12)

“It was my first time ever visiting the Royal Albert Hall and seeing a BBC Orchestra & Choir rehearse together.  It was an honour to visit the Royal Albert Hall because it is one of the most important music venues in the world.”

Leah (age 17)

“It was fascinating to see how the conductor was listening to every detail and giving the performers advice so he can get the absolute best performance out of everyone! It was lovely to see Mr Michael Cox playing flute and again this has motivated me so that one day I might be able to play with him in the same orchestra.”

In December 2018, more than 90 of our 2018 Awardees will spend the day working with the full BBC Symphony Orchestra at Maida Vale Studios, for our 20th anniversary Awards Day!
