2017 Chamber Music Project

Funded by the Elias Fawcett Trust, our 2017 chamber music project saw us partner with the City of London Sinfonia.  10 Award winners who had little or no experience of chamber music were mentored by CLS musicians who supported them in learning challenging repertoire by Handel. The project aimed to help the young musicians develop key skills and techniques essential to becoming sensitive and effective chamber musicians. The project, which culminated in a sharing performance at the Royal Academy of Music, was supported by students from the Open Academy programme.

The lead facilitator of the project was esteemed double bassist and long time collaborator of Awards for Young Musicians, Paul Sherman.

He  worked with City of London Sinfonia Colleagues colleagues Jeremy Isaac (violin) and Trisha Cox (oboe) and the following Open Academy students: Sarah Walsh (Violin) Eriko Nagayama (violin), Patrick Dunlea (Cello) and Jacob Garside (Cello).

We would also like to thank Ellie Cowan and Julian West from the Royal Academy of Music and Julia Roderick and Lily Bracegirdle from the City of London Sinfonia, for their partnership support of this programme.
