Trusts and Foundations

Trusted relationships

By supporting Young Sounds UK through your Trust or Foundation, you’ll enable us to continue to support talented children and young people from low income families so they can continue with their music making, reach their musical potential and participate in opportunities they otherwise wouldn’t have.

You can choose to support particular work such as our Thrive or Connect programmes, support young people and children from a specific region or allow us to use you grant where it’s most needed. You’ll also receive updates and invitations to our events so you can see the impact your work is having first hand.

Is your charity or trust working to support young musicians?

We are always very happy to talk to charities who have similar objectives to Young Sounds UK - to support talented young musicians in financial need - to explore the potential of working together more closely and so increasing our impact. For example The Joan Scrutton Trust joined forces with Young Sounds. Read more about how we combined our two charities here.

Here's what our funders say

Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation

"Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation is in place to champion access, participation and education in the arts, culture and heritage.  The Foundation is delighted to have provided funding to Young Sounds' Connect programme, providing tuition, mentoring and support to enable children with emerging potential to continue their musical journey and boost their confidence. The Foundation supports Young Sounds in their aim to reach young people from disadvantaged or challenging backgrounds."

John Lewis Partnership, Nigel Brotherton, Music Adviser to the Chairman

When Young Sounds approached us, we immediately saw that their goals matched ours and together we created the John Lewis Partnership Awards for Innovation. Reading the regular reports Young Sounds send us on the progress made by our award holders we can see how much their music making is being supported, and in some cases transformed, by the help we give.  Through helping them to achieve their musical ambitions we are enriching their lives, as well as contributing to the variety and vibrancy of music-making in this country."

The Ashford Trust, Jenny James

"The Ashford Trust is fortunate to be able to make regular donations to various causes that would have been close to my grandparents' and uncle's hearts. I am particularly pleased that we discovered Young Sounds as it was my idea to offer a music scholarship or something similar in the first place. The reasoning behind it is rather poignant because, although I had a very close relationship with my grandparents, I never heard my grandfather play the flute! Learning more about a side to my grandfather that I never knew prompted me to initiate a music themed donation soon after the trust was set up. It is very rewarding to know we are able to assist talented young flautists through the Ashford Award."

Young Sounds is extremely grateful to the many funders who have given generously to us over the years. You can see a list of our funders on our supporters page.
