A musical outing for Bradford Furthering Talent students

Thirteen students from Bradford had their first taste of an AYM Furthering Talent ‘Get Together’ event on Saturday 4 May 2019, when they took at trip to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Local Coordinator, Helen Borg arranged a tour of the college, a nice spot of lunch and tickets to see the Junior RNCM’s production of Sweet Charity. The students were joined by staff from the Bradford Music Education Hub and parents came along too.

“Our Furthering Talent programme has just arrived in Bradford and it was great to see it start with such a fantastic activity”.

Furthering Talent is designed to help musical young people from low income families from the moment the first sparks of potential appear. We support their instrumental learning far beyond initial state-funded lessons, so they can keep on playing music well into their teens and beyond. With Youth Music’s help we’ll be expanding the programme from supporting 150 to 450 young people across the UK by 2022.
