Ayanna Witter-Johnson joins Awards for Young Musicians Board

Awards for Young Musicians has appointed acclaimed songwriter, composer, pianist and cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson to its Board.

In her role as Trustee, Ayanna will bring her extensive experience as a renowned international artist to AYM’s governance.

Ayanna Witter-Johnson is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, pianist and cellist. She has a phenomenal mastery for seamlessly crossing the boundaries of classical, jazz, reggae, soul and R&B, to imprint her unique musical signature with her virtuosic tap, strum and bow with her cello into her sound and vibe.

A British-born Jamaican, her music is a body of work that represents, celebrates and pays homage to her ancestral heritage, culture and identity.

“I’m delighted to be joining the AYM team as a Board member. My relationship with the organisation started as a donor and founder of the AYM Rose Walker Award for Woodwind, so I know first-hand that AYM bring immeasurable value to young musicians nationwide with support that makes a huge difference to early careers. Increasing and growing AYM’s impact and reach to diverse artists is important to me and I look forward to being part of AYM’s incredible future work.”

We’re delighted that she’s joined the Board and I’m sure she will make a brilliant contribution to AYM.”
