Big Give Christmas Challenge

Over £100,000 raised for young musicians in our Big Give Christmas Challenge

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we’re thrilled to announce that we exceeded our £90,000 Big Give Christmas Challenge target. Including match funding and Gift Aid, we’ve raised an astonishing £103,512!

This year’s campaign was our biggest so far, and we are incredibly grateful to have not only met our target earlier than expected, but to have exceeded it. This year’s Big Give campaign comes at an important time. Too many young musicians are forced to stop learning or never even get to start. Too much talent is lost. But the money raised this December will make a life changing difference to the young musicians we’re here to support.

Our Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign was supported by nearly 150 donors, from first time supporters to committed individuals who’ve been giving for over a decade. We also received donations from Trusts and Foundations and companies like Presto Music, who donated the money raised for us through their Give Back Friday campaign in November – and doubled it as a result!

Remembering Sir Alec Reed

Sir Alec Reed

We’d also like to thank and remember Sir Alec Reed who founded the Big Give in 2007. The Big Give has since grown to become the largest fundraising campaign in the UK.

Sir Alec Reed died at age 91 on Tuesday 2 December, when this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge started.

Young Sounds has taken part in campaigns hosted by the Big Give since 2011 and in total we’ve raised over £926,000 through these appeals!

Our thoughts are with the Reed family and we remain grateful to Sir Alec Reed for creating this fantastic initiative.

From everyone at Young Sounds UK, and from the young musicians whose lives will be transformed by the donations made this December, thank you. Your support helps us give talent a chance.
