Young Sounds Connect in 2024

One of this year’s biggest developments was the announcement that Young Sounds UK would be the lead delivery partner for the Department for Education’s (DfE) Music Opportunities Pilot. This support has enabled us to supercharge our Connect programme, supporting up to 1,000 young people from low-income families over 4 years. With this announcement came the addition of new Music Hub partners and the expansion of our delivery partners, welcoming ABRSM, BBC, Liverpool Philharmonic, Music Mark, Music Masters, National Youth Orchestra and Open Up Music to the fold.

While this new phase of Connect has only been running since September it has already seen an enormous amount of activity. This term has been buzzing with energy as our young people embraced the magic of Get Togethers!  From thrilling trips to live performances to hands-on ukulele, composing and recording studio workshops, there’s been so much to enjoy and explore. Our incredibly talented musicians took the spotlight, performing for audiences across the country—some even making their debut at their first-ever concert! The programme also made appearances on BBC Newsround and BBC Look North, the first of which you can view below.

A huge round of applause to everyone in the Young Sounds Connect Programme for making this year unforgettable! Your creativity and passion are inspiring—here’s to even more amazing moments ahead!
