“I think music can take you to very beautiful places.”

“When I’m around music I feel amazing. The best thing about playing an instrument and playing in an orchestra is that everyone can share and feel the music together.”

Yoko is a 10 year old cellist from London who fell in love with music at an early age.

“Playing the cello is one of the things I love doing the most. I feel lucky that both of my parents are artists and we can make music together at home.
“I also love composing and improvising. I think music can take you to very beautiful places. During the spring lockdown, I practiced a lot and recorded some of my music. My cello became my very best friend! My favourite composers are Fauré and Schubert, and my favourite cellist is Jacqueline du Pré”.

Thanks to AYM supporters, this year we’re able to support Yoko with her studies at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

“I am so grateful for AYM’s support and I’m very excited to be part of their community of young musicians. Thank you so much!”
