Meet The Thrive Team at Young Sounds UK
At Young Sounds UK, we believe every young person should have the chance to make music, grow in confidence, and unlock their creative potential. At the heart of this work is our Thrive programme, which has run for almost 30 years. Designed to support young people aged 5–17 from low-income families, Thrive provides financial support and musical opportunities.
Behind the programme is a dedicated Thrive team who bring passion and expertise to every aspect of the programme. Together they shape a supportive environment where young musicians thrive.
Jessica Burroughs – Thrive Programme Director
Previously our Events Producer, Jessica now oversees the strategic planning and delivery of the Thrive programme. Jess brings a wealth of leadership and performance experience. As well as her work with Young Sounds, she currently holds positions as cellist of the Roscoe Piano Trio, Cyprus-based contemporary music group Ensemble Cyclamen, and is Section Leader of the Orchestra of Opera North. Jess is a regular guest principal for many of the leading UK orchestras and is a familiar face at the BBC Proms.
Charlotte Lincoln – Thrive Programme Producer
As the Programme Producer for Thrive, Charlotte oversees young peoples’ experiences on the programme, from managing the adjudication of Awards to delivering events, partnerships and opportunities. Charlotte first joined the organisation in 2022 as Programme Administrator. Her background as a cellist and community musician, with experience spanning schools, hospitals, care homes and prisons, underpins her belief that everyone should have the chance to make music, whatever their circumstances.
Katie King – Thrive Programme Administrator
Introducing the newest member of the Young Sounds team! Katie works with Charlotte to ensure the smooth running of the Thrive programme, assisting in the granting of Awards and the delivery of projects, events and other programme activities.
Since joining her first band at the age of 15, Katie has performed at festivals including Reading and Leeds Festival and Glastonbury. She also founded the Women in Music and Technology Society at the University of Liverpool, reflecting her commitment to empowering women in the industry. Katie brings professional experience in music publishing and is recognised as a Next Gen Scholar with the Music Publishers Association.

This August, we said farewell to long-running Thrive Programme Manager Hannah Turner.
The third ever full-time employee of Young Sounds, Hannah has made a significant contribution, helping shape the organisation into what it is today. From her brilliant creative thinking, meticulous planning skills and ability to build CRMs from scratch! The impact on Young Sounds is incalculable.
We’d like to thank Hannah for all of her amazing work over the past ten years and wish her the very best in her next chapter.
