This Award was first made in 2014. Richard Toeman (1933-2005) was a key figure in the music publishing world.
From 1970 until his retirement in 1998, he was the managing director of Josef Weinberger Ltd. who publish, among many other composers, the music of Franz Lehar (The Merry Widow) and Malcolm Williamson CBE. He chaired the Performing Right Society from 1979 to 1982 and was vice-president of the Music Publishers Association. He was an accomplished pianist, a talented bookbinder, a genealogist and collector of signed musical scores. Richard was a prolific composer of light music too, and also specialised in translating the lyrics of well-known Austrian and German operettas from German into English.
Applications for this Award should be made via the normal application procedure.
