Developed in partnership with Charanga, the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for music teachers and their students has been upgraded. Available to all teachers with a Charanga Musical School or Music Pro licence, the new-look tool includes three key features to support young people’s independent music learning and progression:

A refreshed homepage offers teachers guidance on how to get started with the ILP, along with direct links to any of their student ILP groups with one. It provides an overview of how the tool works and explains how using its Ideas Bank can support their students’ musical exploration.

The End-of-Term Review feature is integral to this upgrade. Teachers can complete a Review which records students’ progress against their ILP music goals and any other musical activities and learning they’ve participated in that term. It’s easy for them or their students to scroll back to check previous term reviews. Teachers can also carry goals forward and plan ahead for next term.

Young people access the ILP – alongside all other content and creative tools their teacher shares with them – in Yumu, the Charanga platform’s student-facing learning space. All students with Yumu also have access to YuStudio, Charanga’s DAW; our Quickbeats drum machine; and Music Notepad, our scoring and notation software for beginners.
Subscribers can create an ILP for their students when setting up a Student Group. Log into your account and go to My Workspace > My Student Groups. Click the Options tab when creating a new group – or in any of your existing groups – to assign them an ILP. You can also manage individual students’ ILPs from the dedicated ILP tab.
