Wiltshire Music Connect joins Furthering Talent!

We’re delighted to welcome Wiltshire Music Connect to the Furthering Talent family. They are the tenth Music Education Hub to partner with us on this programme and join Bradford, Brighton, Greater Manchester, Hull, Leicestershire, Manchester City, Nottinghamshire, The Music Partnership (formerly the NW Midlands Hub) and Sheffield.

“We’re really pleased to bring Wiltshire Music Connect into the programme – they are bringing some really innovative thinking and a real desire to help deliver high quality music tuition to children who may not otherwise have access to it.” Neil Phillips: Furthering Talent Programme Manager

“We’re really chuffed to be partnering with AYM on this programme. It’s going to add important new dimensions to our huge programme of tuition subsidy for disadvantaged learners and help us support our hub community in terms of developing skills and understanding amongst Associate tutors and secondary schools.” Nick Howdle: Leader of Wiltshire Music Connect

We have appointed Martin Stewart as our new Wiltshire Local Coordinator. He has begun preparation work for delivery to start in the new academic year.

Furthering Talent is designed to help musical young people from low income families from the moment the first sparks of potential appear. We support their instrumental learning far beyond initial state-funded lessons, so they can keep on playing music well into their teens and beyond. With Youth Music’s help we’ll be expanding the programme from supporting 150 to 500 young people across the UK by 2022.

Awards for Young Musicians is a founder member of the Alliance for a Musically Inclusive England (AMIE): a growing network of organisations working together to promote equity in music education and to support others to do the same through advocacy, CPD, resources, and strategic alliances.

Next recruitment round

We will be recruiting 5 more Hub partners to join the programme in 2020 and welcomes anyone interested to get in touch. Please contact Neil Phillips on 0300 302 3418 or [email protected] to find out more.
