Young musician Riccardo raises over £750 for AYM!

We’re delighted to announce that 13 year old Riccardo has kindly raised over £750 for AYM with a very special performance! Thank you Riccardo for a wonderful, inspiring evening of music, enjoyed by over 60 people in the Forsyth Music Shop showroom.

A natural and already accomplished musician at just 13, Riccardo charmed the audience on both piano and harp, giving beautiful, compelling performances in a programme ranging from Alessandro Scarlatti to modern Peruvian harpist Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, and including such heavyweights as Beethoven’s ‘Pathétique’ sonata and Chopin’s ‘Variations brillantes’.

Riccardo was delighted to be joined by representatives of Junior RNCM, where he studies harp, and by his piano teacher, Murray McLachlan, who spoke about the importance of music education and of improving access to it – which is exactly what AYM does through our Awards and Furthering Talent programmes.

Before the event Riccardo said:

“I am very honoured and excited to do this concert in aid of AYM, which is a charity that helps in very many ways young musicians who come from low-income families. In my opinion, this is very important as it gives the opportunity to talented young children to study music, an opportunity that they might not have had otherwise.”

You can still donate to Riccardo’s fundraising page at the link below.

We’d like to thank Riccardo again for supporting AYM and Forsyth Music Shop for generously hosting this event.
